What is this and who are you?
Social Strategist is the online home of me, Jay Neely, a Boston-based entrepreneur interested in online communications, user experience, and emerging technologies. Currently Social Strategist serves as my professional blog and online presence. I intend for it to be, among other things:
- a source of inspiration for technology developers, users, and executives alike.
- a white-paper repository containing the most essential ideas and information from many of the topics by blog covers.
- an online portfolio of my ideas, my projects, and my capabilities as a writer, researcher, and innovator.
- the basecamp of my journey to become an online communications consultant.
How is this different from other blogs?
The focus of Social Strategist is to inform, illustrate, and inspire you about a technology, a concept, or a person involved in online communications. I make an effort in every post to provide as much relevant context on the topic as possible, which helps you
a) gain a broader view of the environment a technology is being developed or used in, and
b) see through the hyperbole, rhetoric, and buzzword-filled text that accompanies so many new and developing technologies online.
Why are you doing this?
I’m doing this because I’m passionate about learning, I enjoy helping others, and I have a strong belief that communicating is the most essential piece of living and succeeding in the modern world. I want to make a living doing what I enjoy and helping others enjoy the benefits of it, and so I’m writing as both a direct and indirect means of accomplishing that.
